HALLOWEEN IS HERE !

About Halloween...

Every year, on October 31st, it’s Hallowe’en, the eve of All Saints Day.
Children love Hallowe’en. they dress up as witches and ghosts and wear terrifying masks. They knock on their neighbours’ doors. They shout ’Trick or Treat !’. The neighbours give them sweets or money. If they don’t, the kids play a trick on them.

Many people make jack-o’-lanterns for Hallowe’en. They cut faces in pumpkins or turnips and put candles inside.

Hallowe’en was originally a Celtic festival called Samhain, celebrating the New Year. Celts believed that the dead could come back to the world on that day. So they wore costumes like witches and ghosts to frighten the real witches and ghosts.
